Cyclocross Nationals...

So unfortunately I will not be heading to KC for cyclocross nationals this year. I am definitely not in any sort of racing shape. After all, it is the off-season (aka ski season) for me now. I still ride the bike to work almost everyday and getting on the trainer here and there if I want to burn off some steam, but ever since Mt. Washington I haven't really had the motivation to pummel myself into the ground in order to compete here in Colorado. Oh well...as the Red Sox once said...there is always next year! I will re-launch my cyclocross campaign next year both on the bike and with my web site www.cyclocrosselements.com. The plan is to make it the portal on the internet for cyclocross. Yes, I know it sounds so thrilling! haha. Speaking of web sites, I happened to click on over to the Kansas City Cyclocross Nationals web site today and saw that they put up a blog (http://www.kccrossnationals.blogspot.com/) to update people on race news. This is certainly a great idea with all the crazy ice storms in the midwest, but come on guys you are a "professional" marketing firm and you are using the free service of blogger. Sure blogger is great and I use it for my personal blog, but to use it for a national event is rather amateur. All it would take is 2.3 minutes to load wordpress onto a 10/buck a month web host and whammo, you have a professional blog. If only I could cash in on this lack of organization and creativity in cycling. Anyways, that's my 2 cents on the matter. I'm going to go ride my trainer while the snow falls here in Denver and in Boston.

Recap...
So I haven't logged into my blogger account since July and a lot has happened the 4 months that has elapsed. While I write this blog entry I am sitting in a coffee shop in Atlanta, GA. This is my first time being south of Fairfield, CT on the east coast since going to Disney World in
8th grade. So why am I in Atlanta? Well I'm not here for pleasure, but for a training class on some software for my new employer Chipotle Mexican Grill. As I said, a lot has changed since July and one of the biggest changes has been a new job. For those that don't know (aka, East Coasters) Chipotle Mexican Grill is one of the hottest new concepts in casual (fast) food. www.chipotle.com if you want some entertainment in your web browser and learn more about our food. I'm Chipotle's newest Financial Analyst and loving every second of it. Yes, I am still a cube monkey, but I'm enjoying it!
So what else has gone on, I am now living in Denver after shortly living in Broomfield after a horrible living situation erupted in Boulder with what turned out to be asshat ro
ommates. Broomfield was definitely a bore and Denver has a lot more going on, but I am still confident in saying that the only way to live in Colorado is to live in either Boulder, Denver, or a mountain town. Everywhere in between is an eye sore of cookie cutter homes, malls, horrible restaurants, and other suburbia hell associated items. Denver is definitely taking some adjusting from what I was used to in Boulder, but the people in Denver are definitely revolving around the world and not letting the world revolve around them, which is the case in Boulder.
Biking: Duh, I'm still riding as much as I can. I ride the carbon fiber (previously aluminum) donkey to work every day and it's a whopping 8 minute ride and mostly downhill. When I can I'm getting out on lunch rides, but most of my bigger rides have been on the weekends since the sun is behind the mountains so early now. I don't think I put up a blog post about Mt. Washington, but I came 11,000 feet from reaching my goal of 250,000 feet of vertical in preparation for MW Hill Climb. I flew home for the race in August and my legs were in the best shape they have been in in a
few years. I was amped for the race, but mother nature dictated the weekend and the race was canceled with 90mph winds and snow. I was bumming for at least 2 or 3 weeks after the race, but I guess the brightside is that I can get into the 2008 race without having to hope my internet connection is fast enough to register me in time like I did this year. So starting January 1st my new goal for 2008 will be 300,000 feet of vertical before the race and YES, it is a goal and one that I WILL attain.Skiing: Mother nature better start pooping snow ASAP. The snow in New England has been better than Colorado and I had already skied a half dozen times by this time last year. I want to hit 25 days of skiing this year and it's getting harder to do by the day.
